Fast Food Pizza in Japan

Just like almost everywhere else in the world, Japan is obsessed with pizza. However, Pizza in Japan isn’t like the pizza you would get back home in your own country and in my case, Australia. Add about a can of corn kernels and a tube of mayonnaise and ta-dah you have a Japanese pizza! Although, Japanese fast food pizza chains love corn and mayonnaise they also like to experiment with different flavours and combinations.

The most popular Pizza chains here in Japan are Pizza-la, Domino’s and Pizza Hut. All of which offer a seasonal menu which consists of specialty pizzas and sides.

On one particular day a few weeks ago after hours and hours of filming/ editing i was so hungry and thought “Why don’t I order pizza!” So, I did. I decided to film my experience.

Delivery pizza here is quite easy to order. If you order online you will be able to order in English, but if you order by phone  or in person  you will probably have to order in Japanese.

As autumn had just started here in Japan i thought it would be interesting to order the fall special. The pizza itself was in the shape  of a star and had four different toppings including Sicilian egg plant with meat sauce, mayonnaise and meat, pesto and mozzarella, and shrimp mayonnaise and bacon. Not only where there these four flavours but each point of the star was stuffed with different flavours including marinated mayonnaise beef, curry, cream cheese and shrimp ratatouille. The pizza also came with a sweet honey dressing.

I thought it was a bit strange at first mixing savoury pizza with a sweet sauce, but OMG it was absolutely amazing! Probably one of the best flavour combinations i have ever tried. If you have never tried it before i highly recommend it.

If your interested in seeing my whole experience. Check it out below.
